An evidence base to support the future of open research policy
Scientific progress hinges on robust systems for validating, vetting, and sharing research. Funder policies are increasingly driving openness and transparency of research results. As of January 2026, the new Office of Science and Technology Policy’s public access requirements will greatly increase the volume of research that falls under these directives. How can we ensure these evolving policies lead to the most effective and trustworthy ways to share research?
This solutions-focused workshop convenes a diverse group of national experts for intensive discussion on the open questions provoked by changes in the research communications enterprise. The participants will work together to advance a research agenda that will inform the development of new policies and practices in open science communications.
